50 Things About the Blogger

I’m writing 50 stuffs about me on this page. Because I could be an egoistic, self-centered blogger if I want to. ( As of July 2008 )

1. I’m an only child. I’d like to think I’m no spoiled brat, though. I grew up with my cousins and stayed with them every weekend and almost everyday during the summers of my childhood years. And i don’t get what I want all the time.

2. While most people are into entertainment celebrities, I look up to publishing editors and media icons. Or icons in the making. :P

3. My spending reflects my priorities: Whenever I find myself with money to spend, I splurge it on books and good food. I can spend an entire paycheck just on books. Other priorities come later.

4. I’m not a fan of shopping (and clothes, ugh) so when I go out to buy my needs, it’s a one-time, bigtime activity.

5. I like to terrorize my friends — pestering them is my way of affection.

6. I love to watch movies. I like classic films, and almost all genres (except the boring, cheap, unscary horror movies. I really get pissed with those kind). I like having marathons but doing it all day might get worms crawling in my brain. So no thanks. I could do it without popcorn, too.

7. My internship mentor wrote on my evaluation sheet after my training: “Frances was enthusiastic about the coverage and was easy to deal with and reliable.” Enthusiastic was an understatement. I was giddy the whole time because I found myself crushing on an aspiring politician on my first day at work.

8. I have kept a blog since 2004, the summer before I started college. I signed up everywhere since, and it lead me to WordPress and Multiply today. Reading my previous entries either make me cringe or laugh my heart out. Such pathetic concerns I’ve had then.

9. I’m not a singer but that won’t stop me from hoarding the karaoke machine.

10. I want to ride a hot air balloon.

11. My ideal men are Gregory House (House MD), Rhett Butler (Gone with the Wind), Howard Roark (The Fountainhead), and Mark Darcy (Pride and Prejudice). Sadly, they will forever remain fictional.

12. Cycling gives me a sense of freedom. I want to learn the art of handsfree biking.

13. I like sweets, but I crave for spicy foods.

14. I currently have seven doctors in my life. That’s how ‘healthy’ I am.

15. I am amused over things that are extremely intellectual and stupid.

16. The simple and plain (and not the fancy ones) get my attention.

17. My favorite subjects in college were philosophy and journalism classes. I never liked school but I enjoyed learning a lot.

18. I have a very strong faith in God and in people I trust. I have faith.

19. I took up a writing course but in truth, I’m more of a reader. There’s so much to read out there.

20. I don’t drink coffee.

21. I drink but I’m not an alcoholic. I don’t smoke, too.

22. I find men’s magazines educational. They’re not all about women and sex, if that’s what you think. If I would work in a magazine,  I’d like to work in a men’s magazine.

23. I keep a notebook with blue-red lines for my random thoughts and musings. I call it the “bully notebook.”

24. Bookstores are my playground.

25. I love children and I’m good with them. Most of the time, they love me back.

26. Losing my loved ones is my biggest nightmare. Drowning comes second.

27. Despite my smorgasbord eating habits, I’ve been 110 lbs. since forever.

28. I believe that great things are worth waiting for.

29. I’m poker-faced.

30. I talk freely to strangers and sometimes I forget to introduce myself (but when I realize it, I’ve exchanged personal stuffs with the stranger already).

31. My hands are destructive. I’m prone to destroying home appliances and gadgets. Ballpens, too.

32. I try to hear mass at St. Jude every Thursday.

33. I’m attracted to the arrogant, strong personality-types. Sure I like them fierce!

34. I have a poor memory.

35. Entering a maximum-security prison would have to be one of my craziest conquests.

36. I pray to God in English. (Unconsciously)

37. I’m trying to help Mother Nature on my own little ways.

38. I don’t give up without giving a good fight.

39. I can tell if someone’s lying to me or not.

40. I’m moody but I rarely get really angry.

41. I try not to back down on a dare. I like conquering my fears.

42. I believe that a task is easier if done with passion.

43. I’m partial to military adventurists, but I think I’ll always be drawn to soldiers, rebels or not.

44. I’m inquisitive but I hate it when I’m asked too much questions.

45. I enjoy answering sudoku puzzles (because it’s pseudo-Math).

46. I’m writing a lot of nonsense stuff now.

47. But what’s written here is not everything I am.

48. I’m really trying to reach #50.

49. But there’s more to me than this.
